Montane cloud forest. Quercus rapurahuensis, Q. seemannii, Q. copeyensis. Gregarious. On soil, humus.

Description
Pileus 1-7 cm broad, dry, yellow brown, finely matted subtomentose, sometimes areolate. Flesh white to pale pinkish with mild odor and taste. Tubes persian red (Methuen), unchanging, pores concolorous, evenly distributed and not radially arranged, adnate to adnexed. Stipe 3-7 cm long, 5- 20 mm broad, equal or tapering downward, dry, subpruinose above, yellow above, brown below, with white to offwhite basal mycelium. N.B. not C. chontae.
