  • Description

    Pileus 3.5 11 cm broad, convex to plane, dry, finely matted subtomentose, violet brown to dark ruby (10,11,12E3) at first, fading to light brown (6D6,5). Flesh white, slowly pale pinkish when exposed, in some developing pale olive green to mineral green tints, up to 1.5 cm thick, with mild odor and taste. Tubes adnate to adnexed, white at first, pinkish flesh color with age (7C-D4), brownish when exposed; pores dark ruby to dark magenta (12,12F8,7,6), soon becoming pinkish flesh color (like tubes) and staining brown. Stipe 6-8 cm long, 8-11 mm broad, ±equal or slightly broader below, dry, strict or curved, glabrous or finely subpruinose, rarely with a short reticulum and then only at very apex, dark ruby to dark magenta (concolorous with young pores), with white basal mycelium; interior in some with pale olive green to mineral green tints in an otherwise white flesh.
