Description
Pileus 3.5-7 cm broad, glutinous to viscid, acutely conic at first, then convex to plane with a conspicuous and large, acute umbo, glabrous, radially sulcate when dry, dark brown on disc and cinnamon brown (6D6) toward margin or cinnamon brown overall. Flesh pale watery brown, up to 3 m thick, with farinaceous odor and taste. Lamellae adnexed, crowded, light brown, with uneven edges. Stipe over 15 cm long (broken), 5-10 mm broad, equal, subradicating, twisted fibrous, finely subfibrillose, dry, yellowish white above, soon developing purplish brown to reddish brown to orange brown tones toward base, pale orangish brown overall with age, with interior pithy white, then hollow.
