Dear Ellen:
I meant to send you my file of annotations on the NY Xylaria specimens. Somehow I forgot. The file is attached to this
message.
The upper packet of X. agariciformis on that particular sheet is empty, containing no fungal material at all. I found two
stromata in the lower packet only, which was purchased from herb. Massee. It is possible that one of the stromata used to
be enclosed in the upper packet but somehow was wrapped together with the one in the lower packet some time ago
Julian Miller marked in pencil on both packets "photo made 1937" but had the two stromata presented side by side in the
photo. In any case, both stromata belong to the same fungus and was received from Massee; having them in the same or
separate packets should not affect the taxonomy too much.
Best wishes,
Yu-Ming
