Depression on lava ridge with deep coarse textured soil, gentle slope to north. Wyoming big sagebrush community. Associated with Artemisia tridentata wyomingensis, Opuntia polyacantha, Chrysothamnus viscidiflorus, Chaenactis douglasii, Phacelia glandulifera, Bromus tectorum, Sitanion hystrix, Poa nevadensis. Common.
