No. 8308, collected May 22, about the mouth of Silver can- yon in the White mountains opposite Laws, Inyo county, in gravel, some of the plants covering a space five or six inches in diameter. These specimens, in the early flowering stage, are more or less floccose on the stems, decidedly so on the leaves. The type was collected on “rocky hillsides,” northwestern Ari- zona, on the Colorado river at the mouth of Diamond river.
