Disturbed roadside in soft pumice and road cinder soil, ocasional basaltic outcrops. Pinus jeffryi forest on slopes above, with understory of Purshia tridentata. With Chrysothamnus nauseosus, Salsola tragus, Elytrigia intermedia, Gayophytum, Cryptantha. Occasional, roadside.
