Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to 10 km "above" or upstream along Rio Iaco from the city of Sena Madureira. Using Google Maps - Earth View, located Rio Iaco, a tributary of Rio Purus. Beginning at the approximate geographic center of the shore of the city of Sena Madureira, used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to measure approximately 10 km (10.02 km) upstream (toward the headwaters) along Rio Iaco. Used the Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the offset, along the adjacent eastern shore. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to measure the linear extent of the starting location, the shoreline of Sena Madureira, by measuring from the geographic center of the shore to the farthest extent of the shore of city of Madeira (using visual evidence to approximate). Input coordinates, linear extent (2.38 km), measurement error (.0025 km), and distance precision (10 km) to find the uncertainty radius.
