Road edge in area of rotten red sandy rock overlain by whitish cobble. With Eriogonum inflatum, Medicago indica, Coleogyne, Chrysothamnus, Ephedra, Bromus tectorum, Oryzopsis, Gutierrezia.

Plant with 5 main stems, branched above, 0.5 m tall; buds pale (white?); involucres nodding; only one plant seen, the stems broken at base for specimen. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
