    Secondary forests, often at stream sides.

  • Description

    Unbranched treelet, 2-4 m tall. Leaves to 60 cm, subsessile, blades lobed, subcordate to attenuate at the base. Juvenile individuals often with entire and lobed blades. Stipules light green. Floral bracts light green, ovate to lanceolate, c. 5-12 x 3-4 cm, persistent. Calyx with 5 lobes, erect to reflexed. Fruits at maturity 1.5-3 x 1.5-2.5 cm, the pulp fleshy, soft, white and juicy; seeds pendular from an apical septum.
