Habitat
Semi-evergreen tropical forest on slopes of small pre-Cambrian hill, of sandstone and quartzite of the Huanchaca Group, surrounded by lowlands of Río Iténez, along W side of oxbow. Jacaratia digitata, Ceiba cf. samauma, Anandenanthera cf. macrocarpa.

Description
Erect, to 8 dm. tall. Bracts reddish; corolla bright red, held horizontal-arching in anthesis.
