Brazil, Goias, Sitio d'Abadia, just a few km S of town on the road to Formoso, Minas Gerais, 14°49’41.5”S 46°15’2.6”W, cerrado vegetation. Light yellow brown, sandy soil and associated with Attalea geraensis, Allagoptera leucocafyx, Syagrus petraea, and Astrocaryum campestre, elevation 900 m. Garden accession number 96716. Family Leguminosae (subfamily Caesalpinoideae). Common but most seed parasitized. Fruit are legume pods that are dark brown and the aril which is white in color is sweet to the taste even when dried out. Young leaves of plant are red. Young bark is smooth with horizontal winkles, but older bark is fissured in both directions. Flowers are showy and white in color. L. R.
