Biennial, arachnoid herb, 30 to 150 cm tall; stems erect, branched above into compound corymbs with 2-7 capitula, leafy and winged throughout; wings spinose and sinuate; basal leaves elliptic; cauline linear-lanceolate upwards, pinnatilobed; involucre glo.
