Specimen Notes
This is apparently a distinct species from S. jamaicensis which goes up to higher elevations. This sp. collected always has larger leaves, less glossy and not as dark green as S. jamaicensis. The branches are fewer and more horizontal. The two may be told apart easily at considerable distance. The range of this tree is roughly the same as that of Caesaria bicolor in the Luquillo Mts. As Dr. Britton did not observe C. bicolor it may possible that he missed this tree also.
