Sagebrush steppe hillsides; pebby soil. With Artemisia tridentata, Poa secunda, Leymus triticoides, Pseudoregneria spicata, Koeleria pyridata, Purshia tridentata, Gutierrezia, Astragalus spp. and Balsamorhiza sagittata. Common.
