Brazil. Maranhão. Lorêto Mun. "Ilha de Balsas" region, between the Balsas & Parnaíba Rivers. In front of main house of Fazenda "Morros", ca. 35 km south of Lorêto.

Habitat
Open, very closely-grazed ground. Soil semi-bare tan-white fine sand with some stones. (This spot was originally "tabuleiro" woodland near edge of a gallery forest.) [See label for further habitat description.].

Description
Low herb. Fls. 1 1/2 cm diam. Petals cream, with base yellow or light greenish. Staminal column yellow, anthers golden-yellow. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
