    United States of America. California. Mendocino Co. A few hundred feet south of Caspar Little Lake Road and about 2.9 miles E of the intersection with Rt. 1 (Shoreline Highway).

  • Habitat

    Growing in a shrubby, semi-open savanna which is very remininiscent of some such savannas and pocosins in the southeastern United Sattes but drier. With Arctostaphylos nummularia, a tussick-forming Carex sp., Cupressus pugmaea, Gaultheria shallon, Myrica californica, Pinus muricata, Rhoidodendron macrophyllum. Sequois sempervirens (rare) and Vaccinium ovatum. Locally common but otherwise uncommon to rare. Growing in loamy-clayey-sand (Shinglemill-Gibney complex, 2 to 9 percent slopes; fine, mixed, semiactive to active, isomesic Aquic to Typic Hapludults).

Reproductively-mature trees 6-15ft tall, trunk diameters
l-2in, locally common but otherwise uncommon to
rare. Growing in a shrubby, semi-open savanna which
is very reminiscent of some such savannas and pocosins
in the southeastern United States, except drier. Growing
