Habitat
Snowy, open mountainside meadow and savanna at timberline. With Abies lasiocarpa, Aster (Eucephalus) lepidophyllus, Carex sp., Eriogonum umbellatum, Juniperus communis, Lupinus sp., Pinus albicaulis, Polemonium sp., and Sorbus sitchensis var. grayi. Locally common. On sandy loam.
