    In an open, young forest on a gentle S-facing slope. With Arctostaphylos patula (?]. Artemisia tridentata, Ceanothus prostratus, Ceanothus velutinus, Chrysothamnus nauseosus and Purshia tridentata. Abundant. In gravelly loam (Patio-De Masters fam,ilies-Aquolls association, 0 to 15 percent slopes; Loamy-skeletal, mixed, superactive, frigid Ultic Haploxerolls to fine-loamy, mixed, superactive, frigid Pachic Ultic Argixerolls).
