Habitat
In an open, dry forest. With Arbutus menziesii, Arctostaphylos sp., Pseudotsuga menziesii, Quercus chrysolepis, Quercus kelloggii, Quercus wislizenii anmd Toxicodendron diversilobum. Common. In gravelly loam (Yorkville-Yorktree-Squawrock complex, 30 to 50 percent slopes; Yorkville = fine, mised thermic Typic Agixerols; Yorktree = fine, mixed, mesic Ultic Agixerolls; Squawrock = loamy-skeletal, mixed thermic Mollic Haploxeralfs).

Description
Tree, 80 ft. x 2.5 ft. Tree, 80 ft. all, trunk diameter 2.5 ft. Large trees reminiscent of Casuarina, at least from a distance. Cone resin with a slight turpentine odor, twig resin more fragrant,. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
