Brazil. Maranhão. Lorêto Mun. "Ilha de Balsas" region, between the Balsas and Parnaíba rivers. Ca 13 km SE of main house of Fazenda Morros, ca 45 km S of Lorêto. Near house at "Vão da Sambaíba".

Habitat
Base of side of plateau, transition of disturbed arboreal "chapada" (containing secondary shrubbery) with partially secondary brook gallery forest. [See label for further habitat description.].

Description
Tree 12 m tall, trunk 16 cm d.b.h. Fls 5 mm diameter. Inflated calyx light green on one side, red on the other. Styles light green, stigma orange. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
