Along Piaroa trails in semideciduous forest.

Description
Solitary tree, ca. 20 m x 35 cm DBH. Bark peeling to light brown beneath. Petals dark maroon, somewhat reflexed; hood brillant deep pink-purple, spongy, with indentation under staminal ring; stamens yellow.
