  • Description

    This type consist of 2 medium size packets mounted on a sheet. The right side packet contains pieces of bark within 3 smaller packets. The left side packet contains one slide and a note. On the same sheet is a similar third packet. That contains the type of Clonostachys samuelsii Schroers (barcode 00966779).

    "Perithecia of B. samuelsii are crowded, orange-brownish orange, smooth. Doi saw three species on specimen Dumont-Ve3882 (see label in package). Ascomata of B. samuelsii are those described under "c" on Doi's label. The name Nectria venezuelensis Samuels was never published", by H. J. Schroers, Oct 2001.

    HOLOTYPE. Originally identified by Samuels, 30 Jun 1972, as Nectria venezuelensis Samuels. "Perithecia of B. samuelsii are crowded, orange-brownish orange, smooth. Doi saw three species on specimen Dumont-Ve3882 (see label in package). Ascomata of B. samuelsii are those described under "c" on Doi's label. The name Nectria venezuelensis Samuels was never published", by H. J. Schroers, Oct 2001. "3 species observed on the same barks: A) Perithecial units (= fruit bodies) red to dark red, flattened at the top of ostioles.Th surface smooth, aggregate on barks. Ascospores (drawing) type almost smooth. B) Dark red, vertically elongate, the surface rough; ostioles ornamented with radiated hyphal masses. Ascosporas large, (drawing) type minutely warted. C) Perithecial units aggregate, small, yellow to pale orange; the surface almost smooth, ascospores (drawing) type, strongly roughened, conidial state: gliocladium-type.
