Habitat
Weedy sugar cane plantation (originally a babaçu palm grove) on flat river plain, less than 1 km wide, several meters above river level, covered with dense babaçu palm grove. [See label for further habitat description].

Description
Shrub 2.5 m tall. Calyx & corolla scarlet. Staminal column red, free filaments red, anthers dark red, stigma red. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
