Open cerrado vegetation, sandy soil, high insolation. Occasional small trees. Grasses and sedges dominate. Occasional wet seeps.

Small herb of 40 cm.; orange petals, yellow sepals; fls. subtended by green, hairy bracts. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
