Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Assumed "before" to mean "north of;" in accordance with other locality collections of the same collectors within the same time period. Georeferenced to 100km north of Cuiaba en route to Diamantino, along road BR-364 (Brasilia - Acre Highway) in Mato Grosso, Brazil. Using Google Maps - Satellite and Map Views - located the road 364. Beginning at where the road meets the approximate geographic center of city Cuiaba (-15.602738, -56.098133). Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure approximately 100km along the road toward Diamantino city. Used the What's Here Tool (Google Maps) to find the coordinates of the offset (-15.011036, -56.515631). Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to find the linear extent of the starting location of the offset, Cuiaba, by measuring from the approximate geographic center of the city to the farthest extent of it (-15.750133, -56.122675). Input: coordinates (-15.011036, -56.515631), coordinate precision (.00001 degrees), datum (WGS84), linear extent (16.6 km), measurement error (0.01km), and distance precision (1km), into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (17112m) (according to the Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide: Offset, offset along a path).
