Stratum thin, forming scum on rocks afterwards breaking loose and float-
ing on surface of water, brownish (badius) in color ; filaments straight,
not constricted at joints, not attenuate nor capitate, drab or light brown
(avellaneus or isabellinus), 9 5 mik. in diameter; articulations 5—9.5
mik. in length, quadrate to one-half, rarely one-fourth the diameter.
