Tilden. American Algae. 596. Oscillatoria m i n n e s ot e n s i s n. sp. Stratum thin, dark aeruginous; trichomes more or less curved, especially constricted at joints, 2.5 mic. in diameter, with straight or slightly bent apex, neither attenuate nor capitate; pseudocysts in general quadrate, 2-4 mic. long; protoplasm homogeneous; dissepiments pellucid; apical pseud- ocyst rotund; no calyptra. On sides of stone quarry under dripping water. Near University campus, Minneapolis, Minn. Coll. Miss Gene Lilley 27 F 1902. The plant differs from 0. geminata in the length of the pseudocysts, in tlu absence of granules, and in its habitat. Like that species also, it resembles a Phorwidiitm, but the trichomes when examined were oscillating rapidly thus showino- conclusively that it was an Oscillatoria. 00945411
