Fronds gregarious, reaching a length of 10 cm., pyramidal in general
outline, main stem percurrent, stout, reaching a diameter of 1 mm.; bran-
ches distichous robust, opposite or nearly so, provided with well marked
clusters of short rhizoidal filaments at the base of each, constricted at the
bases ; branchlets opposite and distichous, dying away below ; fruiting tips
becoming golden yellow. A more robust species than B. plumosa (Huds.)
Ag., and with more constant and more conspicuous rhieoidal filaments at
the bases of the branches.
