NEWYORK botanical garden 00937549 Phycotheca Boreali-Americana. Collins, Holden, and Setchell, T, ¿j&.rU'bi jfoy. On rocks, forming a distinct zone in the middle zone of the lito- ral region, Pyramid Point, Monterey County, California, May 18,1897 W. A. bETCHELL. Forma dissecta grows about midway between tide marks, forming a distinct zone just below that formed by forma cristata. It is charac- terized by possessing a frond several times dichotomously branched, the branches narrowly linear, often slightly canaliculate and proliferous from the margin into^any narrow dichotomous branchlets which are ar- ranged more or less regularly pinnately. It represents the opposite extreme of the species from forma subsimplex, and comes very near to, if it is not identical with Harvey’s G. mamillosa var. vulgaris (Proc. Linn. Soc. Vol. VI, p. 172, 1862), which is described as follows : “ Repetite ramosa, laciniis angustis cuneatis linearibusve.” W. A. S. /66C, 00937549
