  Árbol siempre verde de 10 a 30 pies de altura y 6 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Se caracteriza por tener copa extendida, algunos órganos cubiertos de pelos finos castaño rojizos, masas de delicadas flores blancas pequeñas fragrantes y frutos en bayas. La madera se ha usado para estacas, postes y cabos de herramientas. Tiene su hábitat en los bosques de la base de las montañas de Puerto Rico. Su distribución se extiende a Cuba, La Española, las Antillas Menores y norte de América del Sur. Evergreen tree of 10 to 30 feet of height and 6 inches of diameter in the trunk. It is characterized for an extended canopy, some organs covered with brown reddish fine hairs, masses of delicate white small fragrant flowers, and fruits in berries. The wood has been used for stakes, posts, and ends of hardware tools. It has its habitat in the forests at the base of mountains of Puerto Rico. Its distribution extends to Cuba, Hispaniola, the Lesser Antilles, and the North of South America.
