  Árbol de hojas caducas de crecimiento rápido que puede alcanzar hasta 25 pies de altura y 2 a 4 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Se caracteriza por tener copa extendida, flores blancas muy numerosas en cabezuelas y vainas apiñadas. Se ha clasificado como planta indeseable por ser invasora y formar malezas tupidas difíciles de controlar. Es tóxica para el ganado caballar y porcino pero no para el vacuno. Es común en las regiones calizas secas y costas secas de Puerto Rico y la Isla de Vieques. Se ha distribuido en las Antillas y desde México hasta el norte de Sur América. Tree of caduceus leaves of fast growth that can reach to 25 feet of height and 2 to 4 inches of diameter in the trunk. It is characterized to have an extended canopy, numerous white flowers in small heads, and clustered pods. It has been classified as an undesirable plant because it is invasive and because it forms dense thickets extremely difficult to control. It is toxic for equine and pig cattle, but it does not hurt bovines. It is common in dry calcareous regions and dry coasts of Puerto Rico and the Island of Vieques. It is distributed in the Antilles and from Mexico to the North of the South America.
