  Árbol siempre verde de 25 pies de alto y 6 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Posee copa extendida redondeada irregular y flores que se tornan de blanco a rosado a amarillo. Ha servido como antitúsico, expectorante, astringente para curar heridas, controlar diarreas y disentería y contra la bronquitis. Podría tener uso como árbol ornamental. Es común en los bosques de las costas secas, laderas bajas de la Cordillera Central, sureste y suroeste de Puerto Rico y las Islas de Mona, Culebra y Vieques. Está distribuido en Florida y las Antillas. Evergreen tree of twenty-five feet of height and six inches of diameter in the trunk. It has an extended and round irregular canopy, flowers that change from white to pink to yellow. It has been used like an astringent to heal wounds, to control diarrhea, dysentery, coughs, and as an expectorant for bronchitis. It has potential to be used as an ornamental tree. It is common in the forests of the dry coasts, at low slopes of the Central Mountain range in the Southeastern and Southwest of Puerto Rico and in the Islands of Mona, Culebra, and Vieques. It is distributed in Florida and the Antilles.
