Description
Planta que se reconoce por las hojas dentadas acorazonadas y flores amarillas en cabezuelas. La infusión de las hojas e inflorescencia se ha usado como diurético, demulcente e hipoglucémico. La cataplasma de las hojas ha servido para aliviar dolores musculares y áreas inflamadas. Se cultiva en huertos medicinales. Crece en terrenos baldíos o cultivados en elevaciones bajas y medias de Puerto Rico. Está distribuido en las Antillas, México y América Central Plant that is characterized for dented heart shaped leaves and yellow flowers in small heads. The infusion of leaves and of the inflorescence has been used like diuretic, demulcent and hypoglycemic. The cataplasm of the leaves has served to alleviate muscular pains and inflammation. It is cultivated in medicinal orchards. It grows in cultivated or uncultivated lands at low and medium elevations. It is distributed in the Antilles, Mexico, and Central America.
