  Planta herbácea anual erguida de tallo morado, flores amarillas en cabezuelas redondeadas y frutos pubescentes con pequeñas espinas que le ayudan en la dispersión al adherirse al pelaje de los animales y ropa de los humanos. Se encuentra en terrenos baldíos, cultivados, bordes de caminos y carreteras de las regiones húmedas de Puerto Rico. Está distribuida en las Indias Occidentales. Herbaceous straight annual plant with purple stem, yellow flowers in round small heads, and pubescent fruits with small thorns that help in dispersion when they adhere to the coat of animals and clothes of humans. It is distributed in fallow and cultivated terrains, and along border of rows and highways of the humid regions of Puerto Rico. It is distributed in the West Indies.
