  Arbusto siempre verde o planta trepadora de ramas esbeltas que puede alcanzar hasta 25 pies de altura y 3 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Posee hojas coriáceas gruesas de dientes pequeños en los bordes con una red prominente de venas, flores blancas apiñadas y bayas rojas en forma de huevo. Esta especie rara es endémica de los bosques del este y Cordillera Central de Puerto Rico. Evergreen shrub or climbing plant, of svelte branches, that can reach to twenty-five feet of height and three inches of diameter in the trunk. It has thick leathery leaves, with small teeth in the edges and a prominent network of vein. The flowers are white and clustered. The fruits are red ovate berries. This species is rare and endemic of the forests of the East and the Central Mountain range of Puerto Rico.
