  Árbol siempre verde de copa extendida que puede medir 15 pies de alto y 2 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Tiene hojas dentadas en el borde, flores blancuzcas o amarillentas en racimos y frutos elípticos. La madera de esta especie es utilizada como combustible. Crece en la base de las montañas de la costa húmeda de Puerto Rico y la Isla de Vieques. Está distribuido en las Antillas, América Central y norte de América del Sur. Evergreen tree of extended canopy that can measure fifteen feet of height and two inches of diameter in the trunk. It has leaves with dented border, whitish or yellowish flowers in racemes, and elliptical fruits. Its wood is used for fuel. It grows at the base of the mountains on the humid coast of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. It is distributed in the Antilles, Central America, and Northern South America.
