  Árbol de hojas caducas que puede alcanzar 30 pies de altura y 18 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Se distingue por el fruto colgante en forma de pera verde amarillento lustroso de pulpa aceitosa comestible y numerosas flores verde amarillento dispuestas en racimos. Es planta melífera. Se han producido variedades de excelente calidad que se propagan por injertos y cultivadas en huertos caseros o comerciales especialmente en las costas y zonas calizas de Puerto Rico. El aguacate es oriundo de los trópicos americanos y está distribuido a través de todo el mundo. Tree of caduceus leaves that it can reach to thirty feet of height and eighteen inches of diameter in the trunk. It is distinguished by the hanging pear shaped fruit of bright yellowish green with edible oily pulp, and numerous yellowish green flowers arranged in racemes. It is a melliferous plant. Varieties of excellent quality have been cultivated propagated by grafts and are cultivated in home or commercial orchards, especially in the coasts and the calcareous zones of Puerto Rico. The avocado is native of Tropical America and it is distributed all over the World.
