  Árbol siempre verde de 25 pies de alto y 6 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco que en ocasiones se comporta como planta trepadora. Se caracteriza por la red prominente de venas en las hojas, flores blancuzcas en racimos y frutos en copas llanas rojas. Esta especie es común en los bosques húmedos costeros y calizos de la Sierra de Luquillo y Cordillera Central de Puerto Rico. Se ha distribuido a las Antillas Mayores y Martinica. Evergreen tree of twenty-five feet of height and six inches of diameter in the trunk that sometimes behaves like a climbing plant. It is characterized by the prominent network of veins in the leaves, whitish flowers in racemes, and red fruits in a cup. The species is common in the coastal and limestone humid forests of the Mountain range of Luquillo and Central Mountain range of Puerto Rico. It is distributed to the Greater Antilles and Martinique.
