  Árbol siempre verde de 65 pies de altura y 18 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Posee flores fragantes blancuzcas y frutos de color negro azuloso dentro de una copa llana roja en forma de platillo. La madera se ha usado para postes. Esta especie es poco común en los bosques húmedos costeros, de la Sierra de Luquillo y Cordillera Central. Está distribuido en las Antillas Mayores y en algunas islas de las Antillas Menores. Evergreen tree of sixty-five feet of height and eighteen inches of diameter in the trunk. It has fragrant whitish flowers, black color bluish fruits, within shallow red canopy in the shape of a dish. The wood has been used for posts. This uncommon species grows in the coastal humid forests, in the Mountain range of Luquillo and the Central Mountain range. It is distributed in the Greater Antilles and some islands of the Lesser Antilles.
