  Árbol siempre verde de 40 pies de alto y 10 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Se distingue por sus flores grandes de color blanco amarillento solitarias y frutos comestibles aromáticos. Es uno de los árboles endémicos más raros de Puerto Rico. Crece en las montañas de la Sierra de Luquillo y zona caliza húmeda. Es una especie en peligro de extinción. Evergreen tree of forty feet of height and ten inches of diameter in the trunk. It is distinguished by its solitary large flowers of yellowish white color and by its edible and aromatic fruit. It is one of the rarer endemic trees of Puerto Rico. It grows in mountains of the Mountain range of Luquillo and in the humid calcareous zone. It is a species in danger of extinction.
