  Árbol siempre verde de copa irregular que puede alcanzar 40 pies de altura y 10 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Posee follaje blancuzco, hojas lobuladas, flores blancas en racimos terminales y frutos carnosos aceitosos. Las semillas se han usado como purgantes. Ocasionalmente se ha cultivado como árbol ornamental y de sombra en las carreteras y medicinal en huertos caseros. Este árbol introducido es poco común y crece silvestre en regiones calizas húmedas en Puerto Rico, Santa Cruz y Saint Thomas. Evergreen tree, of irregular canopy, that can reach to forty feet of height and ten inches of diameter in the trunk. It has whitish foliage with lobed leaves, white flowers in terminal racemes, and fleshy oily fruits. The seeds have been used as laxative. Occasionally, it has been cultivated like an ornamental tree and for shade along highways and in home orchards like a medicinal. This introduced tree is not common and grows wild in humid calcareous regions in Puerto Rico, Saint Croix, and Saint Thomas.
