  Bejuco leñoso que trepa sobre otras plantas hasta 15 pies de extensión. Posee hojas verde oscuro mate, flores de color violeta azuloso con el centro blanco arregladas en cimas y frutos en cápsulas. Se ha cultivado como planta ornamental en la jardinería puertorriqueña. Crece silvestre en zonas secas y húmedas de Puerto Rico y las Islas de Mona, Culebra y Vieques. Está distribuido también en las Antillas, Florida y desde México a Perú. Ligneous reed that climbs on other plants to fifteen feet of extension. It has green matte dark leaves, flowers of bluish violet color with the white center fixed in summits and fruits in capsules. It has been cultivated as an ornamental in Puerto Rican gardening. It grows wild in the dry and humid zones of Puerto Rico and in the Islands of Mona, Culebra, and Vieques. It is also distributed in the Antilles, Florida and from Mexico to Peru.
