  Bejuco leñoso fuerte que se trepa sobre otras plantas midiendo 75 pies. Posee hojas compuestas lustrosas, zarcillos que le ayudan a enredarse y flores pequeñas blancuzcas numerosas agrupadas en panículas. Por la fortaleza y flexibilidad de sus tallos esta planta ha sido útil en la confección de canastas. Se encuentra en los bosques y pastizales húmedos de elevaciones medias en Puerto Rico. Está distribuido en las Antillas Mayores, algunas islas de las Antillas Menores y parte del territorio de Centro y Suramérica. Ligneous and strong reed that climbs over other plants measuring seventy-five feet. It has compound bright leaves, tendrils that aid to twirl and small whitish, numerous flowers, grouped in one spike. For the strength and flexibility of its stems, this plant has been useful in basket weaving. It is found in the forests and humid thickets at medium elevations in Puerto Rico. It is distributed in the Greater Antilles, some islands of the Lesser Antilles and areas of Central and South America.
