  Bejuco leñoso que se enreda sobre otras plantas alcanzando 27 pies de longitud. Posee hojas coriáceas con venas prominentes y flores pequeñas amarillentas dispuestas en racimos. La raíz poco engrosada de esta especie es comestible. Se puede encontrar en los bosques de elevaciones medias y altas de la Cordillera Central, Sierra de Luquillo, Carite y zona caliza de Puerto Rico y la Isla de Vieques. Se ha distribuido a la región antillana. Ligneous reed that entangles on other plants reaching twenty-seven feet of length. It has leathery leaves, with prominent veins, and small flowers, arranged in racemes. The slightly thickened roots of this species are edible. It is found in the forests at medium and high elevations of the Central Mountain range, the mountain range of Luquillo, Carite and the calcareous zone of Puerto Rico and the Island of Vieques. It is distributed in the Antillean region.
