• Description

  Árbol siempre verde que puede llegar a los 20 pies de altura y 6 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Posee hojas rígidas con el nervio principal y los laterales hundidos, flores diminutas blancas teñidas de rosa dispuestas en racimos y frutos en forma de cápsula. Abunda en los bosques enanos de las cimas de las montañas puertorriqueñas. Es las única especie antillana representativa de esta familia común en los Andes suramericanos Evergreen tree that can grow to twenty feet of height and six inches of diameter in the trunk. It has rigid leaves, with depressed main and lateral nerves, tiny white flowers of pink hues in racemes and fruits in form of a capsule. It is abundant in the dwarfed forests at the summits of Puerto Rican mountains. It is the only Antillean species representative of this family common in the South American Andes.
