  Árbol siempre verde de copa abierta extendida que puede alcanzar 30 pies de alto y 8 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Posee hojas coriáceas con bordes encorvados hacia abajo, flores tubulares de tonalidades rosadas a rojo oscuro y frutos en vainas. Esta especie endémica está limitada a las cumbres de las montañas de la Sierra de Luquillo. Evergreen tree of open extended canopy which can reach to thirty feet of height and eight inches of diameter in the trunk. It has leathery leaves with edges bent downwards, tubular flowers of pink to red dark hues, and fruits in pods. This species is endemic and it is limited to the summits of mountains of the Luquillo Range.
