  Árbol siempre verde que puede alcanzar 20 pies de altura y cuatro pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Tiene flores blancuzcas que se tornan rojas levemente fragantes con estambres filiformes extendidos y frutos en vainas colgantes marrón plateado. Crece en terrenos bajos, secos y calizos del sur y este de Puerto Rico y las Islas de Desecheo, Culebra y Vieques. Está distribuido en las Antillas y desde México a Venezuela. Evergreen tree that grows to twenty feet in height and four inches in diameter in the trunk. It has slightly fragrant white flowers, which turn red, with extended stamens, and brown silver fruits in a hanging pod. It grows at low dry calcareous terrains in Southern and Eastern Puerto Rico, Desecheo, Culebra, and Vieques. It is distributed in the Antilles, Virgin Islands, and from Mexico to Venezuela.
