  Bejuco trepador que se distingue por el color morado del envés del follaje y las flores blancas. Los tubérculos triturados de este bejuco se han usado para aliviar torceduras, dislocaciones y detener las hemorragias del útero. Las hojas trituradas aplicadas en heridas contrarrestan las hemorragias favoreciendo la cicatrización y curación. Ocasionalmente se cultiva como planta ornamental. Crece silvestre en las espesuras puertorriqueñas. Está distribuido en las Indias Occidentales, Florida y América Tropical. Climbing reed characterized by the purple color of the foliage's reverse and its white flowers. Its triturated tuber has been used to treat sprains and dislocations and to control uterine hemorrhages. The triturated leaves are applied to wounds to reduce bleeding and aid in healing and scarring. The reed is occasionally use as a garden ornamental. It grows wild in areas of dense vegetation. It is distributed in the West Indies, Florida, and Tropical America.
