  Árbol que puede alcanzar 40 pies de alto y 18 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Posee hojas pequeñas coriáceas fragantes, flores amarillo verdoso de pétalos carnosos de fragancia suave y frutos en racimos. En la antigüedad la madera se usaba para la construcción. Los árboles grandes escasean y sólo se usan los pequeños para postes. Habita en las cumbres de las montañas de la Sierra de Luquillo y Cordillera Central. Se encuentra distribuido en Cuba y La Española. Tree that can grow to forty feet in height and a feet and a half in diameter in the trunk. It has small, leathery, fragrant leaves; greenish yellow flowers with fleshy petals and a slight fragrance; and fruits and racemes. In past times, its wood was used for construction. Tall trees are scarce and only short ones are used for electrical posts. It inhabits the heights of the mountains of the Luquillo Sierra and the Central Mountain Chain. It is distributed in Cuba and Hispaniola.
